Human Rights Café Kenya: Post-election violence & Human Rights

This Human Rights Cafe features the Kenyan human rights defender Stephen Mwangi.

Stephen is the co-founder of the Mathare Social Justice Centre (MSJC) which documents human rights violations in the sub-urban settlements of Kenya, in particular in Mathare, a slum in the north of Nairobi. Through participatory action research the MSJC examines subjects such as police brutality, extrajudicial killings, land grabbing and political accountability.

Stephen will shed light on recent events regarding the post-election violence and the context of excessive use of force and the daily social injustices that take place in Nairobi’s urban settlements.

In the cafe there will be plenty of time and space for meeting people who are also involved in defending human rights.
