Human Rights Café Mexico

We cordially invite you to the Human Rights Café Mexico at the University of Leiden!

This Human Rights Café features the Mexican Human Rights Defenders Marcos Lyva and Rosalinde Dionicio. Marcos is the founder and director of the organization EDUCA. This organization focusses on the defending of land and environment, with a special focus on economic investments projects and megaprojects which causes the violation of the environmental, land, and human rights in the region of Oaxaca. Rosalinde is a member of the organization Redecom. This organization resists against the mine project of San José and the exploitation plans they have, this because during the process a lot of human rights treaties were violated. In their fight, EDUCA is helping them.

Marcos and Rosalinde will discuss the violation of environmental and human rights during projects like the San José mine. They will explain the current circumstances in Oaxaca and the difficulties they are facing by doing their jobs.
