Justice and Human Rights in Honduras: discussing the case of Berta Cáceres and defending human rights in the post-election context

Both ENDS, Peace Brigades International and TNI cordially invite you for an interesting discussion meeting featuring a delegation of Copinh Honduras (the Civic Council of Popular and Indigenous Organizations of Honduras) and GAIPE (The International Advisory Group of Experts that investigated the murder on Berta Cáceres).

The delegation exists of the following members:
– Bertha Isabel Zúniga Cáceres – general coordinator of COPINH and daughter of Berta Cáceres
– Francisco Javier Sánchez – president of the Indigenous Council of the community of Rio Blanco (location of the Agua Zarca dam). He is also the Coordinator of land and territory of COPINH.
– Víctor Antonio Fernández – lawyer, human rights defender and social leader. He is ex-public prosecutor of Honduras and Coordinator of MADJ.
– Miguel Ángel Urbina Martínez – Guatemalan lawyer and notary. Member of GAIPE.

In their presentation they will discuss the challenges in achieving justice for the case of Berta Cáceres and, more in general, the problems that human rights defenders face in the aftermath of the November 2017 elections. After the presentation there will be room for discussion and questions.
