Women Human Rights Defenders on Frontline Struggles

Join Mi’kmaq land defender Sophia Sidarous, Colombian lawyer Tatiana Triana and Kenyan community activist Maryanne Kasina in a discussion moderated by PBI-Canada Board member Meera Karunananthan on International Women Human Rights Defenders Day!

On the occasion of International Women Human Rights Defenders Day on Sunday, 29 November, Peace Brigades International-Canada organizes a webinar, featuring three women human rights defenders to talk about their work as women human rights defenders, and to highlight the particular way in which women and girls suffer in situations of conflict, as well as the critical role they play in the fight against forms of discrimination and in processes of peacebuilding.

During the discussion, the speakers will reflect on: what led them to become a defender, what inspires them to continue to do this work; the personal repercussions they face; what international women human rights defender day means to them; a key struggle for justice they are engaged in now; and how we can help in these struggles.
