How to join the online Zoom film screening and discussion?

Shelter City Utrecht and PBI organise an online screening of ‘Women of the Venezuelan Chaos‘, an award-winning documentary showing us a portrait of Venezuela, a country now in chaos. Following the screening, we will discuss more in-depth the greater context of Venezuela’s economic and humanitarian crisis and give you the opportunity to ask all your questions to our Shelter City guest, David Gómez Gamboa. But how does this online Zoom meeting exactly works?

Zoom at a Glance:
Zoom is a web-based video conferencing tool with a local, desktop client and a mobile app that allows users to meet online. This is all possible within one easy-to-use platform. You might now Zoom already as a video confrencing application just as Skype and FaceTime. The difference with this specific Zoom ‘webinar’ is that you won’t be visible for other participants in the Zoom film screening and discussion. This means your webcam and microphone are switched off. Only when you have a question during the Q&A after the documentary, we can turn your microphone on (more about this later). Use Zoom as an app on your smartphone, tablet or computer for the best experience.

How does it work?

  1. Register to join the webinar beforehand: click here
  2. You will receive an email with a link to join the Zoom webinar for April 6th at 19:30.
  3. To join the Zoom screening it’s recommended to download the Zoom-app first.
  4. Click on the link that you received in your email before the event starts. Recommended is at 19:15 to avoid any possible technical problems that can’t be solved in time before the screening starts at 19:30.
  5. You’re in!

How to ask questions during the Q&A after the documentary?
After the film we start the Q&A. During the discussion you will only be able to see the video of our hosts David Gómez Gamboa and Lizzy van Dijk. Your webcam and microphone are off/muted. If you have a question, click on the button that says: ‘Raise hand’. We will receive a notification that you would like to ask/say something, whereafter we can open your microphone. It will also be possible to ask your questions via the chat function in Zoom.

Easy right? See you Monday April 6th!
