Human Rights Cafe: Inga Sikorskaia

PBI and Human Rights Utrecht present another Human Rights Cafe (HRC) with guest speaker Inga Sikorskaia from Kyrgyzstan. Inga is currently our Shelter City guest in Utrecht.

Inga is the program director for the School of Peacemaking and Media Technology. She focuses on countering progaganda of violent extremism, encourages diversity and tries to counter hate speech in the media and on the internet. These topics are however considered sensitive.

Inga will be talking about her work as a journalist and a human rights defender in Kyrgyzstan with a focus on media freedom and hate speech, as there is mounting concern about the threats to media freedom and an urgent need to respect press freedom.

MEET INGA and listen to her story! There will be room for questions and answers afterwards.

There will also be a live Mariachi band!

We start at 16:00 till 16:30; walk in at 15:45.
And it’s free, but please do sign up by sending an email to: secretariaat@peacebrigades.nl.

The HRC is part of the #RideforRights event and takes place prior to arrival of the bikers who are cycling across the Netherlands on the 18th of May, while standing up for human rights and those that defend them.

Utrecht is part of the route and one of the checkpoints. In cooperation with the municipality we will provide a warm welcome and food for the cyclists.
